How do I know Bowjangles (Midlands) Partnership is a Bonafide Company?

Our registered No. is 06791176. You can check us out on Companies House (The U.K.s Compulsory Business Database) by clicking here. You may see our shop for yourself on the About Us page or phone us on +44 (0121)-556-6868. We are also featured along with other jewellers on the BBCs Midlands Today website under cashing in on old Gold, which you can see at our site here.

Do you guarantee the price on the homepage?

Due to market fluctuations combined with giving the best prices. We can only guarantee the prices shown for the day the precious metals are received. Of course the market price of metals may well go up during the postage time and then you would receive the full benefit of this increase (Royal Mail special delivery is next day, if the post office get the item by around 4pm). We will inform you during processing of the prices we are currently paying before anything happens to your precious metals.

When and how will I be paid?

We will contact you upon receipt of your precious metals and conduct the transaction after acceptance of that days price.

  • We are happy to send cash to you for ammounts upto £2500. We believe sending cash or goods to be rather reckless via royal mail, for any amounts over £2500 as special delivery services will not insure these packages. Please call us before sending your package for larger amounts, in order to make special arrangements. Many non UK countries do not allow cash to be sent at all and some only allow a maximum compensation of £100.see here

  • If you opt for Immediate cash deposit then you will receive the money into your bank account on the day of package receipt, without any charges. Unfortunateley this is only available to Lloyds TSB, HSBC and Barclays customers at present.

  • If you also tick the box "I want paying by CHAPS" then you would receive the money on the day that we receive your precious metals. However, there would be a bank charge of £30 deducted from your payment.

  • If you opt for payment by cheque, then you should receive the cheque on the nextday (first class post) and it would usually take 3-5 days for the bank to process that cheque. It has been known for banks to take longer on very large cheques. Cheque converters would cash it sooner for a fee but often upto a maximum limit.

  • If you opt for personal transaction, then you would need to cover your travel costs but payment would be by cash on delivery at our shop.

What if I've checked for markings but I am still unsure, whether my items are precious?

Gold is lighter than many metals, but we would use special chemicals to determine if the metal is genuine and of which carat. Unfortunately these chemicals are expensive and so are not likely to be worth purchasing by our customers. Local Jewellers will often give a no obligation valuation. The testing may lead to a small abrasion of the item(s) and so where possible, this abrasion will be placed in areas which can not be seen during normal use.

If your Golds are different shades of Yellow, then they are likely differing carats and so some worth more than the rest. We would determine the varying carats and pay you accordingly. Be wary of companies that will pay the 9ct price for mixed Gold values. Rose and White Gold's just use different mixing metals and so are only as valuable as metal as the equivelent carat Yellow Gold. They can occasionaly cost more due to demand (similar to ring designs at the same weight and stone size).

What if I still don't know whether my precious metal is genuine or not?

If you visit the "Is It Genuine" page, then this should help you decide if it is worth sending. Unfortunately because our prices are so good. Then if it isn't precious and you would like to have it returned. Then we will decide with you as to the most appropriate way (insured package/package/letter) of returning the item(s) at your cost and no profit to us.

How should I send my metals to you.

If possible, the best option for you would be to visit the shop at the address on the "Contact Us" page. However, we recommend an insured courier option like Royal mail Special Delivery, as it is insured (currently £4.60 for less than 100g at £500 insurance upto £22.50 for a 10kg package upto £2500 insurance (full pricing here)). Wrapping the item(s) in newspaper and a well sealed envelope is probably best. The address to send to will be emailed to you and is also shown at the bottom of every page. Any items that are not Genuine and that you would like returning would have to come out of the price we pay, be charged to you prior to return, at no profit to us or be picked up in person at no charge. The royal mail special delivery F.A.Q. can be reached by clicking here. If you think your packages is worth more than £2500, then please call us, so that we can give special advice or make special arrangements.

Will you send a courier to me on request?

Our policy is that we should not. It provides little benefit at greater risk. Whilst our systems are secured to a higher level than the vast majority and use many different encryptions, no one should assume the security of any internet enabled systems, especially client or desktop systems (security depends on both computers involved in a connection and SSL security depends also on the systems inbetween). There's always a small potential for someone to pretend to be a courier and acquire your package, which would not be insured untill in a legitimate couriers hands.

How do I find my sort code or account no?

You only need the sort code for the Bank transfer payment options. The sort code is the banks branch identifying number it can be found on cheques, statements or the bottom left corner of debit cards. It is formatted ##-##-## and your account no usually follows it. On the bottom of a cheque, you will see some numbers with strange looking magnetic squares, the sort code is always the middle 6 digit number and the account no follows that i.e. the last two. These two numbers are usually also repeated in the top right corner of your cheques.

Is the price of White Gold and Rose Gold higher than Yellow Gold?

The value of Gold is determined by the amount of yellow Gold that it contains or carat value. The colour is determined by the metals it is mixed with. Therefore, the price of 9 carat Gold is worth the same amount as Gold in any Genuine Gold variety being Yellow, White or Rose.

Why do you need to be over 18?

It is the law in the U.K.
